A Close Protection Operator, protects a person or a group of people – usually high-ranking public officials or officers, wealthy people, and celebrities — from danger: generally theft, assault, kidnapping, assassination, harassment, loss of confidential information, threats, or other criminal offences.
A Close Protection (CP) Licence from the Security Industry Authority (SIA) is required to work as a CP operator. The courses lasts 21 days Students will be expected to take and pass a English exam before starting the course.
Attendees will be taught about the Security industry, what your legal rights are as a CP Operator, how to deal with conflict, personal intervention, First Aid, the role of the CP Operator, working as a team and the techniques of keeping the ‘Principal’ safe in a variety of situations. Assessments are in the form of written exams and students
will be videoed, conducting CP skills. A CP licence also qualifies the holder to conduct Door Supervisor and Security Officer roles. The CP Operator qualification is SIA approved and a SIA licence to operate as a CP Operator is required. This licence lasts for 3 years.
