CCTV OPERATOR

A CCTV (closed circuit television) operator works in a central control room, monitoring and controlling cameras via a bank of screens. These are linked to surveillance cameras placed in public places, buildings and places such as shopping centers , town centers , to detect and prevent crime, and protect people.

A Public Space Surveillance (CCTV) Licence from the Security Industry Authority (SIA) is required to work as a CCTV operator. The courses lasts 4 days and Students will be expected to take and pass a English exam before starting the course.

Attendees will be taught about the Security industry, what your legal rights are as a CCTV Operator, how to deal with incidents when using a camera in the public space. Assessments are in the form of written exams and students will be videoed, conducting camera skills.

The CCTV Operator qualification is SIA approved and a SIA licence to operate as a CCTV Operator is required. This licence lasts for 3 years.
